NBA Parlay Betting
NBA Parlay Betting
The great thing about the NBA is that when the season is in full swing, there are so many games running simultaneously. It feels like there is always a different game tipping off, giving bettors so many exciting opportunities. For new bettors, this can be a little bit overwhelming. With so many moneylines you want to bet on, a game week can either leave you feeling like you staked too much of your bankroll or that you missed out on betting opportunities. If only there were a way to combine multiple moneyline wagers into one bet…
The good news is, there is! Parlays bet allow you to combine two or more bets into one wager you can place on sports markets. There is a more considerable risk but bigger payouts if everything goes right for you. Plus, the excitement of having the fate of your bet spread across multiple games is hard to beat.
This betting type may be the answer to your NBA betting prayers, but you might still be confused. Don’t worry; our experts are here to help. Read our guide to learn every tip and trick you need to start placing NBA parlay bets.
Parlay Betting Explained
In its simplest terms, a parlay bet is a wager that combines multiple sports markets and lets you bet on them with a single stake. These wagers, or legs, can come from the same or different sporting event. That means you can place parlay bets across a single game or across multiple NBA games in a week.
For you to win this bet, every leg of your parlay bet needs to come through. That means if your parlay is made up of moneyline bets on the Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, and Chicago Bulls, all of those teams have to win. If even one leg of your parlay doesn’t come through, you win nothing. In this case, say the Magic lose, then that’s the end of your bet.
These bets are hard to predict because of this, and yet bettors keep placing them. That’s because the stakes of each wager multiply with one another, meaning parlay bet payouts are much more generous than if you just staked on each event individually.
You may be looking at the upcoming NBA game week and thinking you can guess the winners of a few matches. If that’s the case, NBA parlay betting gives you the chance to win generous payouts.
NBA Parlay Betting
Although we love NBA betting here, it’s worth noting that a parlay can consist of multiple legs across different sports.
For the sake of an example, we’ll stick to the NBA. Below are some examples of odds on four NBA games. We’ve included both the American odds and the decimal odds.
- Minnesota Timberwolves +120 (2.02) vs. New York Nicks -120 (1.83)
- Denver Nuggets +240 (3.4) vs. Milwaukee Bucks -295 (1.34)
- Indiana Pacers +168 (2.68) vs. Phoenix Suns -200 (1.5)
- Los Angles Clippers -102 (1.98) vs. Los Angeles Lakers -116 (1.86)
To make this an easy example, say you bet on all of the respective favorites. You’ll have the Nicks, Bucks, Suns, and Lakers in your parlay.
From four individual bets of $100 on each game, you would receive $653 ($400 + $253 profit). That’s a decent return, but with a parlay bet, it could have been so much more. A parlay bet of just $100 on all of the favorites would have returned $684. That’s a $584 profit.
Of course, four games have to go your way, and even if just one doesn’t, you will be left with nothing.
How to Calculate your Winnings
Most sportsbooks will have parlay calculators as a part of the UI of the site. We recommend this as the best way to calculate the odds on your NBA parlays. However, if you’re committed to using traditional methods, below is a guide to working out your profits yourself.
- To do this, you will need decimal odds. You can convert American odds using an online odds converter.
- Multiply all of these odds together.
- Use the number you get from that sum and multiply it against your stake.
- Minus your original bet, and that will give you your payout.
If you want to test our method, try it with the favorites from above. Hopefully, you should get the same payout as we did.
